Apply to A-HOME Owned Housing

Applying for housing at A-HOME involves a number of steps, beginning with the submission of an application. After the application is received by A-HOME, a staff member will contact the applicant by telephone to describe the next steps which may include a more detailed application, an in-person interview, a visit to an A-HOME residence, and the submission of additional documents including a medical history, income verification and personal references. The application process is intended to ensure that potential residents will be a good match for A-HOME’s housing and the kinds of services that A-HOME provides. See privacy statement below.

A-HOME’s  housing programs:

Single Parent and Family Housing:  Apartments in Bedford Hills, Croton Falls and Katonah offer housing to families. Families have been able to move from substandard, overcrowded housing to a safe, affordable home at A-HOME.  Support for the families is available through a full-time Case Manager.

Independent Supportive Shared Senior Housing: The ability to be self-sufficient is a criteria for acceptance to A-HOME and residents are encouraged to remain independent. Houses in Bedford Hills, Chappaqua, Katonah and Thornwood are located close to shopping and town centers to allow residents aged 55 and older access to grocery stores, libraries and other amenities. Each adult has a private bedroom and shares the common areas of the house.

Independent Shared Supportive Housing for Individuals with Disabilities: A-HOME has developed and manages three shared homes in Mount Kisco and South Salem for individuals with disabilities. Each individual has a private bedroom and shares the common areas of the house. Two of the houses are located close to a town center and residents can walk to shopping, the bus line or train station. The third home is located in a more rural area of northern Westchester and residents of that house need to provide their own transportation. The ability to live independently is necessary for admission to A-HOME and residents with disabilities are encouraged in their independence and many have part or full-time employment.

All programs have case management and a volunteer program is available as needed.
